Richard Bonynge's association with Melba Recordings is a long and affectionate one. The Melba label began ten years ago with an acclaimed video documentary on the life of the composer Massenet, narrated by Richard and a CD conducted by him featuring soprano Rosamund Illing performing a selection of Massenet’s thrilling arias.

It was Richard’s faith in Maria Vandamme’s production skills that encouraged her to leave a successful career at the ABC and to form a new recording label, Melba Recordings.

Melba Recording’s Richard Bonynge Edition so far consists of six compact discs, including five collaborations with Australia’s pre-eminent divas and the first classical Super Audio Compact Disc made in Australia.
